Tonight I participated in the Reclaim The Night annual march. It is the annual women’s march against rape and male violence. The London Feminist Network called the march. The reasons why the march is held. For women in the USA who want to learn about similar events in the USA, see Take Back The Night.
The march itself lasted about 90 minutes and it was quite exhilarating. The women were of various ages and ethnicities, young and elder, bundled up in jackets, scarves, gloves and hats. We held signs and banners and made a bit of a ruckus. A good ruckus. Police walked alongside and behind the parade to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Traffic was blocked and onlookers gathered to watch. After the march, there was a rally with speakers and an after party. The London Feminist Network really knows how to throw a good shindig.
