The environment was electric! I have been inspired like never before. I believed in a change for all and so did the people at the Democratic Convention. I believe in becoming a better citizen and doing my part. I believe in being kinder to everyone annd everything. President elect Obama spoke with style and grace. He said positive things about Senator Clinton. Uplifting things. Wonderful things. And when he talked about John McCain, he did not speak evil about the man, he spoke about his policies. A refreshing change. From this day, I hope politicians take note of a new way of campaigning. We are all sick of the ugliness. President elect, soon to be President, Barack Obama is going to help us all achieve a more perfect union. I have never been so proud as I am now of the political process. Thank you, our soon to be President, Barack Obama. (I hope will.i.am writes a song about this. I hope children talk about it in school. I hope old ladies feel safer…) Ok, I need to stop it. *wipes tears from eyes*

I believe the presidential race is a mere technicality. Barack Hussein Obama WILL be the President of the United States!
Unless the Reps. pull another fast one over us (the 2000 presidential SELECTION).
They pulled a fast one on the last two elections so we know it’s possible. In my town, they actually closed the polls even though people were still lined up and wrapped around the building – and had been for hours. And in Florida, they had police cars block roads (black neighborhoods) so people could not make it to the polls. We have to hope some watchdogs with power will keep this from happening this year. For decades I HAD been a staunch RNC supporter. However, thanks to one of those rare “Ah Ha!” moments in our lives (technically called Transformative Learning)…my eyes were opened and my check book closed.
My career (Humanitarian Aid Relief Coordintor and Educator for First Responders) allowed me entrance into numerous nations across four continents. As much as possible, I tried to arrange my furloughs back home around convention and election time.
Now, I’m home permanently (after 30 years) and it’s as if I landed on a different planet. My “former” party seem to continue to wear “blinders”.
I wrote many posts outlining why I think as I do. I was even told I could not be a real Christian if I think as I do…take a look at …Heartache At The Hands of The “Church”. This will allow you to see through their eyes. This will allow you to also see what kept me trapped in an extremely abusive marriage (now remarried to the most amazing man!)
Another post outlines what my hubby went through to secure a position within the US Dept of Energy…vetted for a full SIX months. Mc Cain said of Palin she was “vetted for hours”. HOURS!! Is he serious?! This is outrageous.
The thing that really got my blood boiling was when she said the only difference between a hockey mom and pit bull is lipstick. I addressed this too…as I come from a hockey family …post called “A Hockey Town Family”….yep…we’re from Detroit…the REAL Hockey Town 🙂
Thanks for creating such a great site and I plan on visiting often.

Michelle, it sounds like you have a lot of experiences to share. I loved reading the bit about your ‘Transformative Learning’. Sometimes we don’t know how much we’ve changed until we’re around people from our past. Perhaps you can run for VP next, after Palin is brushed out of the White House circus door. McCain is so good at this now, he can probably vet you in about 15 minutes. Ten if you take hockey sticks. And of course, five if you wear lipstick while holding the hockey sticks. 🙂
I’ll stop babbling now. Thanks for stopping by.

OMG! Only now did I read your response to me…and, again…I’m roaring with laughter.
You said, “McCain is so good at this now, he can probably vet you in about 15 minutes. Ten if you take hockey sticks. And of course, five if you wear lipstick while holding the hockey sticks.”
____________
Hysterical! My hubby read this too. He said he would never have to ‘vet’ me at all, if he thought I could also hold a pen and write a letter with my toe!
I still cannot get over the idiocy of the thinking that Palin ahs ‘foreign policy’ experience since she lives near Russia.
Hey…”Hockey Town” is right at the Canadian border. So, there ya go…anyone from Detroit has equal experience as Palin…lol
Your comment about the …”White House Circus door”…was very accurate. I think YOU should run for office. You could count on our votes. Since I have experience in writing speeches and fund raising…I’d volunteer my time. All you have to do is say the word…
Kindest Regards,
Michelle
awww thank you Michelle.
